Raising Funds for Our Mission
Workers Support
THE NEED
Primary to our church’s reason for being is mission work. Our recent intensive evangelistic ministries bore tremendous fruit by establishing several mission churches. The task is to nurture these mission points into viable and vital communities of faith. Key to this responsibility is the mission worker. Currently, there are 339 mission workers in the 20 districts of the Manila Episcopal Area. They receive an average monthly support of P2,500 or US$50. (see chart)
THE VISION
Our goal is to standardize the salary of mission workers in the Manila Episcopal Area so that full-time mission workers will receive a minimum monthly financial support of P2,500 by June 2003. We also aim to provide them SSS and health care insurance coverage.
THE PLAN
In order to attain our goal, the following strategies are being proposed by the MEA Mission Task Force:

1. To establish a MISSION WORKERS TRUST FUND OF SEVEN MILLION PESOS by June 2004, the interest of which will be used to subsidize the monthly support of mission workers. Bishop Toquero has provided seed money of P200,000 from MEA Funds.

2. To encourage individuals and larger local churches to sponsor mission workers by providing monthly support.

3. To appeal to individuals, both local and foreign, to give to the Mission Workers Trust Fund, either by one-time donation or by installments.

4. To solicit advertisements for the souvenir program for the Wesley Tricentennial Celebrations in May, 2003.

5. To collect P100 / member as contribu tion: P50 to Mission Workers Trust Fund and P50 to the World Methodist Council.
